Hosted Databases

Hosted database services are incredibly useful for both "live" datasets (where data is still being added) or where data access only makes sense through issuing SQL queries. At the least, all services detailed here

  • A hosted SQL engine against which queries can be performed
  • Permissioning for entire databases, potential permissioning at individual table level
  • CRUD via API and/or ODBC

It is crucial to identify that a hosted database service does not constitute a data deposit as required by RCUK, researchers are advised to consult researchdata.ox.ac.uk to resolve the need for a live and archived version of your data.

For information about connecting Shiny apps to these data repositories see this guide.
